Where is your studio?

Our studio is based in an old bottling factory turned artist studios in Faversham, Kent.

Describe your typical day

We don’t really have a typical day. Fawn and Thistle is just made up of the two of us, so we’re responsible for everything to do with the business, which at times can be hectic. Our main priority is putting any wholesale orders together and getting those shipped out, then the rest of our time is spent dealing with all the necessary admin, PR and hopefully getting round to doing some designing for new products (our favourite part)!

What is the best thing about your job?

Being in charge and having the freedom to create whatever you want.

Do you listen to music in your studio? What three songs are on your playlist?

We always have music playing, usually whatever comes up on my Spotify daily mixes.

Three song we love are:

What’s on your desk right?

Besides a ton of pens and pencils, there’s a notepad I use to take note of all my design ideas and to write lots of to do lists (we both write a lot of lists!), a plant to bring a bit life and greenery to the studio, and a photo of my cats because they make me happy.

Who do you look up to as entrepreneur?

Jamie and Mark from Ohh Deer. Sangita was friends with them at uni and they’ve just done amazingly well with their business.

What three apps or companies should every entrepreneur know about?

Xero (a very useful accounting app), VSCO (good for editing photos) and of course Google Drive.

Why were you interested in having your products sold at not just a shop?

UAL’s Careers and Employability department has been extremely supportive and helpful since I graduated, providing funding for trade shows and more. It was great to then be able to be stocked alongside all the other amazing graduates in the shop for the opening of not just a shop. The space does a great thing, giving students and graduate entrepreneurs more exposure to the general public whilst also providing them with a promotional platform.
