Meet the Team: Abbie
not just a shop boasts some of the most talented team members around, so it’s a given that we love to celebrate them whenever we have the chance. Introducing our first edition of “Meet the Team,” we’re chatting with our very own Visual Merchandising and Retail Assistant (and painting connoisseur), Abbie.

What did you study at UAL?

I studied Painting at Wimbledon College of Arts. I originally applied through a recommended Widening Participation scheme, and as a Londoner it made sense to study at UAL; there are so many opportunities and you’re always surrounded by exhibitions, and there’s so much inspiration in the city itself.

What do you like the most about working at not just a shop?

Being a part of something new is exciting. I enjoy supporting and promoting UAL graduates in their careers, as well engaging the public with the designers and artists the shop showcases.

Who is your favourite designer/artist/entrepreneur and why?

I really like the paintings by Agnes Martin for their simplicity and serenity.

What’s your creative practice outside work?

My practice involves process led painting and printmaking – using recycled or industrial type materials. Recently though I’ve been focusing more on photography and drawing.

Finally, what’s your favourite product in not just a shop?

It’s impossible to have just one, but if I had to have top 3 it would be: RALLi Design Trioglo vase set, Jaqueline Colley’s Tiger Tray, and Reiko Kaneko Ceramic Pendants.

Left: Necklace. Middle: Three white ceramic vases. Right: Tray holding a glass of water.
