Six students from London College of Communication and the innovative jewellery brand Materia Rica have teamed up to create the Spark, Sketch and Wear collection. With Christmas just around the corner, the new jewellery collection is the perfect gift idea for an extra special present to go under the tree this December!

The students responded to a design brief for the seven new pieces of jewellery, which were designed to match Materia Rica’s brand ethos, whilst telling a unique story about themselves. Each original piece was created in collaboration, with support on the end to end design process from Founders Joan Ayguadé and Marta Chojnacka.

Bold, fresh and filled with colour, this fun collection also continues our mission to support emerging talent as each student receives a sale percentage.

Founded by Joan Ayguadé and Marta Chojnacka in 2014, the Materia Rica brand creates sustainable laser cut jewellery that is hand-painted and varnished at their studio in Spain. Commenting ahead of the launch, the duo said –

“We love collaborating with young talented artists and designers and found throughout the process that we share a lot of values with not just a shop, meaning the birth of the project was really straightforward. After presenting their proposals based on their stories, we helped each student to unfold figurative designs that could work as a jewel. We’re delighted to reveal that as a result of the collaboration, we have started to internally put together a course for designers, so we can continue to share our knowledge and help even more great talent shine.”

The six lucky students were: Eveline Kinzkofer, Katya Londish, Juliette Stuart, Jokubas Vaicekauskas, Catia Kelleher and Zen Quek.

Each piece comes presented inside a gift box with an individual card which explains more about the inspiration behind the creation and the designer.
