With the aim of intertwining nature and our cityscapes, Jemima’s products are inspired by everyday London architecture. Rather than imitating one-off iconic buildings or landmarks, Jemima focuses on more every-day structures, such as corner shops and train stations, enabling a universal connection and appreciation of what really makes London “London”.
“As someone who grew up on the outskirts of London, I believe it is equally important to appreciate and cherish both rural and urban environments, and through a widespread introduction of nature to our towns and cities, we will experience countless positive effects on our environment as well as our mental and physical wellbeing.
I design my pieces so that they provoke different memories and interpretations from each individual, allowing them to make the piece their own. In my art I focus on the key architectural elements that make certain buildings identifiable, concentrating on the shapes, textures, and silhouettes, to try to encourage people to appreciate the typically overlooked art and craftsmanship that makes up our city portraits.”
