What attracted you to your craft?
I’ve always loved jewellery and accessorising and would constantly receive compliments on how I styled and combined pieces. Then one day I thought, ‘Why don’t I design my own?’, with my background in art, architecture and interior design it felt like a natural progression tying two passions of mine together in a personal way. Merging my love for aesthetics with my skills as a designer.

What inspired you to start your own creative business?
I was inspired by the desire to create something of my own but also the thought of how exciting it could be if other people liked it too.
What is your favourite aspect of running JO Designs Jewellery?
My favourite aspect is seeing something that once was only in my imagination come to life in
physical form. It’s incredibly affirming to know that I can turn a creative idea into something
tangible and even more rewarding when people want to wear it and style it as part of their
own expression.

What is the USP (unique selling point) for your products?
At the moment it would be the pieces being adjustable so you can wear it on multiple fingers, it doesn’t just fit one, and because of this you don’t have to worry about changing sizes in between seasons or different temperatures since when its warmer your fingers tend to swell a little.
Where does inspiration for your designs come from?
My inspiration often comes from a desire to go bigger and bolder with each design. For my debut ‘JO’ rings, the concept was all about creating the illusion of the ring floating. I designed the band to be invisible from the front, so the focus stays entirely on the style of the ring. I want every piece to feel more like a statement than the last.
Can you share a little more on how your interest in design started and developed?
My interest in design has always been a constant throughout my life. It began with studying art and using painting as a form of expression, which eventually grew into a desire to create physical, three-dimensional work. In a way, my journey naturally evolved from 2D to 3D art/design.
How would you summarise your collection?
Designed as statement jewellery, each piece is bold, avant-garde, and can be worn alone or stacked for added impact.

What are your hopes for the future?
In the future, I hope to get to a point where I’m able to create bespoke pieces that are more sculptural almost like wearable installations. Creating jewellery to a more sculptural level and potentially blending jewellery with interior design.
Can you briefly describe your journey since leaving UAL and setting up your business?
Finding this opportunity in my final year of UAL and now being a recent graduate when it launches in the shop feels like a real stepping stone into my future, and it aligns perfectly with my focuses and goals moving forward.
