What attracted you to your craft?
TenTa is born out of a lifelong passion for design, illustration, stationery and all things print.
What does your typical day look like?
Everyday is a new day. Some days is spent
on the computer and others are more hands on. Even though our products are
printed we do all the finishing ourselves. I am really not a big fan of admin work so I dread those
days…
Does your product have an environmental focus?
All our products are fully recyclable and we encourage users to give them a second life. Like
turning old calendar pages into paper decorations or notebooks and keep using them.
What is the USP (unique selling point) for your products?
It’s fun, friendly and informative
Where do you find your inspiration for designs?
TenTa is very much a family affair and our main source of inspiration comes from our daily lives;
finding beauty in everyday objects and situations.
Please can you provide a little more info on how your interest in design started and
developed?
Throughout my adult life I have travelled and lived in various places. All the different cultures
and experiences formed my love of design and how we use it in our daily lives. When I was a
student at the art school I was really into letter press and screen printing. I have always loved
working with colour and form. Even though at the moment our work is produced digitally I do
enjoy combining the old techniques with the new.
Do you have any favourite items in the collection?
Possibly the calendars. I collaborate with my artist husband on these
and they started out as a very personal project.
How would you summarise your collection in a few sentences or words?
Fun, colourful, simple, a joy to have around and use.
Does your work have a social impact?
With our seasonal calendars, we tried to emphasise the importance of eating
seasonally to reduce our impact on the environment. I hope that we inspire and
inform people who are using them.
Where would you like to take your design collection?
We’d like to expand our product range and grow our audience with more
collaborations and exposure.
