When we become Ornaments and Objects (detail)’ 2023 by Sarah Jane Hender. Sarah is a final year postgraduate student at Central Saint Martins, studying MA Fine Art Digital.

Artist description of work: “This is just a fragment from a larger painting that puts into question the objectification of women and the overuse of their body parts. The bent-over women has become a well-worn trope for us as the audience to gaze. This painting reinforces this notion and yet asks more than just to gawp. She, the woman is asking for more as her face stares back at you from her displayed behind.”

• CSM XMAS Grotto fundraising print sale ran in December 2023. Proceeds went towards supporting the students final degree show
• Now the fundraising sale has ended, remaining print sales will be given back to the MA Art Programmes at CSM who will use the funds to support future students
