‘Digital Collage’ by Eliza Rawlings (MA in Fine Art Digital)

Artist Description:

“This ‘Self-Portrait’ is inspired by two Chinese idioms, ‘like a chicken talking to a duck’ and ‘you can’t fit a cow’s head into a horse’s jaw’; meaning communication barriers or incongruity arising from differences in culture or language. The idioms aptly describe my internal conflicts as a transcultural person. The image is a collage combining my two oil paintings of self-portraits exhibited at the MK Gallery in 2024.”
