Artist description of work: ‘On a recent trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I visited Escadaria Selarón. The day I captured this photo and later edited it, a military police raid of a favela unalived over 100 people and the city was shut down for the evening. Residents of the favelas remain devastated by this war-like ambush while Governor Claudio Castro deemed it a success.’
