‘In Images We Trust’ 2022 by Gemma Lewis Studio. Gemma is a final year postgraduate student at Central Saint Martins, studying MA Contemporary Photography; Practices and Philosophies.

This work is referencing the contemporary pre-disposition to blindly believe in what we see: images, media, news, advertising in the same way we might have believed in religion and faith. It can be read two ways ‘In Images We Trust or Trust In Images’ either as a proposition, a mantra or as a command. “Believing in images” is contrasted with religious belief where there are no material images, only blind faith.

• The prints exhibited in the MERCH sale were created by final year, postgraduate students at Central Saint Martins
• The proceeds from the sales went towards funding the students final year group projects
• Each print from the sale is £50
