‘Interwoven Reamls’ by Jiewen Chen (MA in Contemporary Photography; Practices and Philosophies)

Artist Description:

“This work was inspired by the book Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men  by Caroline.  In it she writes “Seeing men as the human  default is fundamental to the structure of human society.” Women’s access to paid  work is often hindered by the gendered division of labour. And even when women  become paid workers, their job attributes are clearly gendered. Women’s struggles in this context inspired me to create this photograph.”
