‘Primordial Soup’ by Anastasia Belinskaya

Artist’s Description:

“This work merges elements from the Carboniferous period with modern technologies. The original image was created by scanning bituminous coal and overlaying it on a chemigram developed with a plant-based solution. The print you see is the result of almost alchemical processes that involved boiling the developer, etching a zinc plate in acid, soaking the paper in water, and, of course, cooking coal rocks from what was once a swamp.”
